OpenAI detecting tool
Amidst concerns of academic dishonesty and the dissemination of false information, several schools in the United States have chosen to restrict access to ChatGPT within their networks. To aid educators and others, open ai created a tool that can distinguish between text crafted by human hands and that produced by AI systems.
Greg Brockman, the President and Co-Founder of OpenAI, took to Twitter to declare that this tool is merely in its initial version, which is why we decided to put it to the test!
I asked ChatGPT to write a 250-word piece about climate change. I relied solely on the capabilities of ChatGPT, without any personal input, and I put the result in the detecting tool. This is what the tool had to say about it.
As you can see, the tool cannot always be right, but in defense of OpenAI, they clearly state that the tool has some limitations.

Some students have already found solutions for AI generated text with QuilBot! Students take whatever ChatGPT writes for them, put it in Quilbot and Quilbot makes it seem like the student wrote it so the school cannot track it and then you submit it and the teacher has to believe that you wrote it because it cannot be tracked! Crazy loop, huh??
